Why are the United States Marines so respectful to the United States Air Force?

An Air Force man in full dress uniform enters a room full of Marines the Marines always stand at attention and say “I would be honored to stand in your shadow sir”! Why is that?
Are you Prepared for Marine Boot Camp?

Marines are taught respect.
We are taught to respect all officers and NCOs in any branch of service.

Any attention I’ve seen from the other branches towards the Air Force was always negative.

the marines are the most respectable of all the branches, it really depends on the rank and I am guessing that the marine was in the presence of a General. All branches are subordinate to any rank of any branch of service

if they get in a pinch our air support can save their lives. hence stand in your shadow. our planes are obviously above casting a shadow.
