Where should I stand before entering USMC basic training?
May 4th, 2008 | by MakingMarines |Chris asked:
How many pull ups should I be able to do?
How many push ups should I be able to do?
How many sit ups should I be able to do?
How far should I be able to run?
And under what time limit should I be able to do each in?
I enter basic in 4 months and I want to make sure I am physically fit so the only thing I would have left to be concerned about is being mentally fit.

20 pull ups dead hang no rocking your body for momentum I dont think they allow that anymore.sit ups 100 in 2min. running train for endurance runs go LOOOOOOONG distances not really how fast just build up your endurance Marines LOVE TO RUN, long distances so be ready for that.If you can at least run 3 mi in 21 min is perfect but if you do 23 min-28 min you should be good for a 1st class score still, If you can do all that you should walk away with a PERFECT score on a physical fitness test. They qualify every year while your in and it counts toward the points for your promotions as well!

2 dead hang pull ups
44 crunches in 2 minutes
1 1/2 mile in 13:30
You are not required to do push ups for your first minimum standard test. These are the minimum requirements.
My husband graduated Marine boot camp in April and I have his training guide here that i am refering to.
By the time you leave boot camp you will be able to do
20 dead hang pull ups
100 crunches in 2 min
3 miles in 18:00
And you can try your hardest to prepare mentally but when you get there it will all go out the window. They will push you to your limits & break you down, you will want to leave and go home, give up. But they will teach you how to overcome self doubt, how to push yourself with pride, and to NEVER give up. Just remeber when you are all done you will have earned the title MARINE. And it will all be worth it!! Good Luck and Semper Fi!!

Before you enlist go to your local pet cemetery cuz if you’re KIA you could end next to Fido & Fifi…. That’s the way this country treats its Cannon Fodder (google it!)… Or if you’re lucky nuf to survive with a wound you can enjoy the luxiourios accomodations at Walter Reed Hospital…..or if just your brains get scrambled then dont count on help for mental health from them either…
