As an officer , you get commissioned and that does not mean that they count down your days, like the do for the enlisted, you might want to read that contract a bit better, Commissioned Officers, in the navy and the Corps are treated different, very different, and if your counting the days, and you dont want to be there, then why do it,

Maybe it is not what is best for you ., if you are concerned about 26 weeks, compared to a career and a lifetime, then maybe the military is just not the right place for you .. You might want to re think it,

    GOOD LUCK

Hi, I have over 7 years active duty time prior to switching to the Navy reserve.
The clock starts on the day you are commissioned, so yes, TBS counts as time in service.
    Cheers,

I don’t know what the set up is now, but when I was in back in the ’60s, an officer had to pull the full six. If he was enlisted and then became commissioned he had to re-up for another 6 years. But, yes, your basic counts toward your time in service, as would college if you are enrolled in ROTC, or any other prior military service.

I thought officers did not sign contracts of enlistment which is why they can resign their commission..Maybe its after your first four years..

But yes if there is a contract it starts the day you begin training.

It depends on your contract, my husband has a flight contract, helicopter pilot. His contract date didn’t start until he was winged and as a helo pilot he has a five year contract vs fixed wing guys with an 8 year one – differences in the amount of training required I guess. I don’t know how long the ground contracts are but that time does count towards your years of service in regards to pay. Hope this helps, talk to your OSO as well.

Everyone joining the military signs some sort of contract. Always ask questions and read your contract. Each contract has different time periods and specific restrictions. Generally your training time will count towards your time in service.

It always counts for pay considerations.
