Honor Platoon is when the overall Platoon out-beat the other platoons in the Training Company in the 13-weeks of competition. Per se, that overall every recruit has excelled in the weekly inspections, PFTs, Swim Quals, the Warriors Den, etc… Marines are very competitive towards each other, it is our nature. Since the other services offer no real challenge, what greater place to compete than the other Marines as ourselves! Blood tastes so sweet when another Marine is able to produce a blow to your face in MCMAP! Makes you feel tingly inside…Ooorah!

The honor graduate is a regular Marine recruit who has excelled in all aspects of boot camp..He is chosen as honor grad and is meritoriously promoted one rank..

After boot camp is done he is a regular Marine and this event will have no major bearing on his her service..

Hes sort of like a sports team most valuable player..

Honor platoon would be the platoon who took the most awards in the various competitions throughout boot camp.

The top Marines of each platoon gets awarded as the “Honor” graduate. They usually performed better than the rest. Not only did they do their work as part of the platoon, they tended to get key billets such as Guide or Squad leader. They also did better on the Physical Fitness and Academic portions and were given a higher leadership grade from their Drill Instructors.

The “Honor” platoon is the platoon that does it as a whole overall. Anything that is scored during the 12 weeks is used from PFT, to Academics, to Rifle Range.

Either way, your still a Marine once you graduate!

An Honor Marine is a Marine who has excelled at things during boot camp.
High PFT scores, high rifle range scores , etc.
