USMC training
BiologicalRebel asked:

I have read two different things on the Internet about how many people fail USMC basic training so I’m just wondering what those who have been through it (women especially) have noticed. Do many people fail completely or is the success rate pretty high?

Basically, the only way you fail Boot Camp is if you simply, don’t do anything, and don’t do what you’re told to do.
It is very hard to get wash out of Boot Camp.
They want you to pass, and if you’re not motivated, the DI’s will sure as hell motivate your ass.

The Marine Corps doesn’t have basic training, Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard have basic. The Marine Corps and Navy have bootcamp. That said, it is indeed very difficult to get sent home from bootcamp. If you want to be there, you will pass bootcamp and become a Marine. If you lose motivation, the DIs will make sure you are hella motivated. You have to quit to washout, something that doesn’t happen too often. Now, Marine Corps bootcamp is extremely difficult, but very doable for someone who wants to pass.

You dont fail, what does happen, is you can get dropped. Let’s say you get pneumonia or something, they will drop you back to a later platoon, so you would not graduate w/ ur original platoon, but w/ another platoon, at a later date..which sux..so try not to get sick or get injured, which will cause you to get dropped to another platoon. Or if u do something stupid at the rifle range…and become a safety violator, then you will get dropped to…but eventually you graduate..it just can be a few weeks or months later..

The drop out rate for USMC boot camp is 6% male and 13% female.
