    I went through Air Force basic during the Vietnam era. Even though it’s not as tough as Marine basic, I did get slapped a few times across the head by the Drill Instructors. I would think that one would be prepared for Marine Basic and not go into it with cold feet. It’s ashame that boy died. Perhaps he should have been weeded out the first few days. However, the Marines should never change their training methods. That’s why they are the best of the best.

    Its the GODDAMN MARINES! This isnt preschool. You do what your told when your told to do it. There is no question. This kid was weak, and he would have gotten stronger if he wouldnt have given up. No one goes into the Marines, because its easy. Its not! and im only 16! My father and brother in law are Marines, I have the biggest respect for them. I am next to join. Parris Island. The fewer, The prouder.

    you choose your MOS??? hahaha that’s crap. you suggest an MOS. kinda like the wishlist you fill out after school. either way the Corps is going to put you where they need you. but most of the time you get a job relevant to what you wanted; don’t expect to get stationed anywhere you choose unless you reenlist

    Wrongful touching my ASS!!! at four weeks this poor guy (felt bad calling him a bastard) should know better. one arms distance from the DI at ALL TIMES. it’s for the protection of the DIs as well. and what did this guy expect to just skip over swim qual? you can’t be a Marine if you can’t swim

    As for the forearm strike…I know when you meet your DI’s they tell you ONE ARM DISTANCE!! no shit stay one arm distance anything less than you will get put one arm distance…as for him not being able to swim..that does suck, not sure how they do it in PI but i was west coast…and they dont do that over there…who knows

    It is true I just left in basic in 2007, my experience is 23 years more current than yours lol. No offense. I’m just trying to say that as far as bootcamp goes, the army is really desperate for people and lets them use cell phones now and basically makes bootcamp a cake walk. While me in the air force is deploying more and more and it’s not just lifting 50lbs like it used to be.

    thats not rite drdoey…airforce is the most slack. then army. the navy and usmc are lots higher. in 1984 i went to fic. and the airforce had to be able to lift like 50 lbs over there head. the usmc, navy n army didnt give a shit..if you couldnt lift anything before you went you damn sure did when you got out…..im ol’school devil dog grunt. simper fi
