It feels so great, I start DEP for USMC. What is the best thing I should do to prepare for boot camp?

I just talked to some marine recruits that just got out of bootcamp. And I seriously want to join as soon as I turn seventeen.

I only have just about a month before I enlist, what is the best thing I can do to prepare for this challenge of a lifetime?

you need to become mentally prepared and physically prepared. i would do your research about the USMC and its history and get in the best physical shape you possibly can.

Get into shape if you are not in it already, it will make boot camp alot easier. The rest is all mental.
Also you will probably get a package once you get done with all your stuff at MEPS, it is a welcome aboard package that has a book. In this book, it has alot of info you should study when you have free time (Like general orders, Marine hymn, code of conduct… and so on) . It to will make boot camp easier.
Are you enlisting in to the Delayed Entry Program or going to boot camp now?

same as the other- mental. You want to be the best, then be mentally ready for the challenge. If it were easy, everyone would be a Marine.

Go out and run (at least 1.5 miles if you are shipping soon, 3 miles if possible) and work on pull ups, and crunches first. Other aerobic and weight lifting exercises will work too. If you haven’t already, learn how to swim and tread water. After that, educate yourself about the Marine Corps (ie: rank structure, history, customs and courtesies, missions, etc.) Make sure the Marine Corps is right for you, get everything in writing and ask other Marines if you have questions!
Good luck!

Phys. start working out (no muscle/body building) run, run, run and then run some more, sit-ups. push-ups, pull-ups> no swinging of legs ( the more you can do the better/easier for you in Boot)! Find out the max and minimum weight is for your age and height and then get to about the 1/2 way point. Stop drinking soda > > start drinking water, milk, juice, may be some sugar free green tea. To help build strength take in protein this will build your muscles. Start getting up around 0500 and do your work-out at this time because this is when you will do it in Boot Camp.
Simper Fi to those who know and Little Dog you will soon Know.

Start running..run every day. ..run everyplace you go. When you go to boot camp, don’t be a wise guy..do what you are told and stay out of trouble. Don’t be lead astray by bad elements.
