How should i prepare for USMC boot camp?

i am in the process of enlisting for the marine corps. Im 17 and will ship for training at san diego next summer. I can run a mile in 7:00, do 30situps and 35 pushups. How should i begin to prepare physically. Im 6 feet and 160lb.

    Sounds like you are on the right track. Keep eating right avoid the junk food and keep exercising.

    Start getting a shorter time in the mile. Try and do more than just 30 sit-upds and 35 push-ups. I run cross country and I am 15 in the 1-th grade. We do 400 crunches each day. Some times 500.

    Try and get your muscle mass up a bit more. Make sure you work your core and back muscles.

    You need to do some more work if you want to be in shape for boot camp.

    all well and good wanting to be fit, but you will need to learn how not to answer back.

    To do things the mono second they are asked of you, to do it better than they asked of you.

    Just like you didn’t do for your mum or dad.

    Read here…and on the other page you can read about the knowledge you are required to know to graduate..Knowledge is just as important as PT.

    Not really an answer but idk
    im already enlisted im in the delayed entry program and ship out on dec. 15 to mcrd san diego as well
    as far as your running goes you can do it faster than me i got 1 mile in just over 8 minutes.
    anyways, all i can say is just keep running (like try to run for 30 min. straight no matter the distance), situps and pushups til you cant do no more

    If possible you should research ROTC in your area. It’s a program that will drill you just like you will receive in Boot camp. This is the closest thing you will notice. Also i would suggest you start exercising a strict diet. I don’t recall the exact number of calories they have you at boot and at deployment. I would further recommend you start running more than just a mile. I would suggest a pack starting with around 5-10lbs. Then as you are more and more conditioned increase the weight (Make sure you have a good amount of water. Eventually you will get to around 70 lbs. That is what the packs you carry end up weighing. Also if you smoke, drink or any other things i would get off them asap.
    Another thing is that if you have any desire to have a tattoo done, have it done prior to enlisting. They have passed new codes of conduct and tattoo’s that are visible on the forearms are mostly frowned upon.

    I say, forget the Marines and get a job working 50 hours a week. You’ll be working hard, making decent money, and you won’t get killed by a sniper.

    Have you DEPed in? Not that it matters if you have or not, but usually the recruiting office holds poole functions for the Poolees waiting to go to boot. They will make you run, do push ups, sit ups, and pull ups. They will condition you. Go to the pool functions and go running on your own. You will do a lot of running in boot. Start doing more pull ups, push ups, and sit ups. Pretty much if you are already there physically boot camp is more of a mental game than physical. My husband already had a 300 PFT going into boot so he just had to go through the mental games.

    I’mm going to be really honest with you man, as i am a former marine myself….. there will be no preparation you can do to prepare for what lies ahead…. as far as the physical aspects of things you are on the right track,I’mm sure you are in DEP right now, there are minimal standards you HAVE to meet there to be shipped off on time, try to exceed those a little more than you have already….as far as the mental demand, i strictly urge you to watch some videos on it cause they are real, you will be broken down i promise you. Just stay strong and always remember its nothing personal and they are doing it for your own good, when you get there it will seem as they hate you but you will come to find they are making you one of the few.
