my brother just graduated from basic training in parris island MCRD. a few days ago i searched USMC, and there was this group of “marines”, and i wasnt too happy seeing what they turn into. one was holding his croch, they had playboy posters everywhere, and just looked stupid. is that how they all become after a while?

no.not all are like that, but some tend to take it to their heads and become very cocky.I hope he doesnt end up that way.

Not every marine is like that. Yes, he will change after basic… it’s hard not to. You must understand that they break you down completely, and pretty much take away your identity, and then they build you back up to how they want you. Yes, you will notice changes in him.

Peer pressure can take its toll on anyone, your brother may turn out like that, however if he is a strong willed character then no one can MAKE him turn like that apart from himself. Dood luck =]

I wouldn’t worry so much about his choice of sexual fantasies and supportive camaraderie within the military as much as whether there’ll be a sane man left over when this mess is done.
    Have some counseling ready.
    Best wishes.

it comes down to his own personality. is he strong enough to stick with his beliefs or will he buy into all of the macho BS and start acting a maniac. the marines are true to the code of honor but they are training killers so they have to display the tough guy persona. only you know who your brother really is…so do you think he will change?

Fired up. Congrats to the new Marine. Oorah. If he doesn’t come out changed then my beloved Marine Corps drill instructors haven’t done their job.

FYI there is no such thing as an Ex Marine. A real Marine would know that. I smell a rat.

They are put into an environment where they are not allowed to think for themselves for a while. Once they get out it takes them a while to readjust. I’ve known a lot of Marines and they are just like everyone else, some are good and some are not so good. Overall, I think more are on the good side than the bad side. Just give him time to readjust to thinking for himself.

That is just how guys are at times.
When we loose are inhibitions, we do what we want.
All that stuff we wouldnt dare do, but thought about, well we finally do it.

He will be who he truly is, whatever that entails.
His character will just be revealed.
    Good or Bad.
    That is all.

    GOOD LUCK
