About an hour of time at night to get your gear ready for the next day, when done, you either write or go to sleep early…

Wow, the Marines give you 4-6 hours every Sunday!?!?

By going to slep early, it was abot 5-10 minutes before lights out

Sundays you can write your family. The time doesnt changes, its about 4-6 hours. Mail call is held everyday except sundays.

You get 1 hour to square your crap away and in this time if you have time you can write or read letters.

On Sunday you have about 4 hours.

Free time does not mean you can go to bed early or conversate or have a good ol time. It simply means its time that drill instructors are not yelling at you.

While in certain parts of training you will not have this free time. This happens during the 2nd month.

The allotted time doesn’t change while we’re there, unless they are in the field and then don’t get little to no time. I mostly remember writing their letters by flashlight hoping the DIs didn’t catch them. Between reading letters and quietly BSing with the recruit next to them he should have around 15-20 minutes, depending on the DIs mood.

The two bozos above have no clue. They make you write a lteer home your first night you are picked up by your regular platoon so mommy doesn’t think they killed you…lol…after that it is quite restrictive the first couple weeks or so, then you get like 30 mins at night while you get your gear ready to tehn write home. You cannot go to sleep early…lol…that’s hilarious…obviously he’s never been to marine boot camp…and you damn sure don’t get 4 to 6 hrs a day to yourself…like i said 30 mins at most.

You usually have about a hour a night to write letters and square your stuff away for the next day. On Sundays you have about 4 hours to either go to church or stay in the barracks and write letters. The time is about the same all through Boot Camp. And as far as going to sleep early NOT in Marine Boot Camp. Everybody hits the rack at the same time unless you have Fire Watch.

Recruits generally receive an hour of “down time” every evening prior to lights out where they can care for their gear, write letters, and/or relax.
