How hard is the marines boot camp?

I’m thinking about joining the marines sometime soon and was wondering exactly hard hard the boot camp is. I’d like to know how well shape i would need to be in. I’d also like some information about the day to day life during the boot camp. Like what a usual day would consist of. I’d also like some exapmles of what was difficult for people that have been through the boot camp.

It’s pretty darned hard, but it also depends somewhat on who you’re going through with. They shoot for about a 25% attrition rate (meaning they want about 1/4 people to drop out). You’ll want to be able to run 6 miles in about 45 minutes, and 3 miles in about 18 minutes (preferably while carrying an iron pipe the length of a broomstick in your hands). You’ll want to be able to do 20 pull-ups without swinging your legs above your hips, and to do 80 sit-ups in less than 2 minutes.
Day to day, you’ll be getting very little sleep for about 3 months, and you’ll be hungry all the time except for the last 2 weeks. You’ll have maybe an hour, tops, per day of personal time to do all your shaving, boot polishing, letter writing, etc.
I highly advise getting several people committed to writing you everyday. They almost certainly won’t, but maybe a few will get to you every few days. It will help a lot.
Good luck!!
