My husband really didn't change that much right after boot camp. The change was a lot more slow. But then my husband was 24 when he joined the Marines. Now, he's been in for over 4 years, and is in a position of authority, and he's moto (motivated), He keeps his students looking and acting like Marines. It just seems like once they get out to the fleet, after their training, some of them slack when it comes to PT, cutting their hair every week, and shaving every day. They will retain the 'i don't care' attitude. and learn everything about the marines, because life will change big time if he is active duty. As for entering civilian life, they dont. They are taught in boot camp, that once you become a marine you will always be a marine, you will always be treated differently, and people can tell a marine from a civilan by the way they talk, look and walk.
