Push-ups would be excellent; you’ll have to do a lot of them in boot camp.
Sit-ups wouldn’t be bad. And you’ll have to do a number of pull-ups to qualify for graduation, so those wouldn’t hurt.
And learn to say “Sir, aye aye, Sir” until your tongue bleeds.

Train with push-ups, sit-ups and running until you can do 50 push-ups or sit-ups at a time and can run two miles in ten minutes.

Run, run and run some more.
Lift a bit and do crunches and the like. But you need to run, get rid of any excess flab and be in good aerobic shape.

Like the guy above said running is the best way to get into overall shape. The other thing no one says about boot camp is to read. In Navy boot camp there’s a lot of text to review in order to learn seamanship skills. It’s out of boring NAVTRAMANs that are dry as heck. Boot camp is pretty fun. Enroll in GI bill or other educational benefits for when you get out. Start planning your career while you’re still in and don’t wait until the enlistment is almost over you you’ll end up re-enlisting when you’re ready to move on.

Boot camp hasn’t changed a whole lot over the years. They like the staples: push-ups, sit-ups, leg lifts, scissor kicks, 8 count body builders, and they love to run. At the end of the day the Navy PRT standards are found in OPNAVINST 6110.1D (it might be echo now). If you do a search on the internet you will find it.
The actual PRT test consists of a sit-reach (touch your toes) for flexibility, sit-ups (how many you can do in two minutes), push-ups (how many you can do in two minutes), followed by a 1.5 mile run. The time limit for the run is based on age and is pretty quick for 19 and under. For 35 – 39 year old male it is 15:00.
Good luck! Have fun and remember millions have made it through before you so there is no reason why you won’t either.

Contact your recruiters office and get two things.
1.) A list of conditioning exercises.
2.) A list of other recruits in your area.
If you gotta train, might as well do it in a group.
The link is for an Air Force program. but the services have basically the same programs.
