Are there any birthday celebrations at Marine boot camp?
October 13th, 2008 | by MakingMarines |Roxye asked:
A friend of mine is going to Marine boot camp this fall and his birthday falls during that time. For some reason, he’s anxious about what they might do to him to celebrate. I told him that they wouldn’t think of doing anything because it’s not important. He says, since ROTC did something, the Marines will probably do something too. So all the people that made it from Marine boot camp, are birthdays really that important that the Command would say or do something?

Usually they are too busy to pay attention . But if you want him to have a celebration. Send him a card, with happy birthday written real big on the envelope. HIs whole company will celebrate while doing push ups for him. Your choice, if you want to make his birthday hell, then just remind his instructors that it is his birthday!!!!!!!!!

Hi, When I was in USMC Boot Camp in San Diego, I do not recall anyone having their birthday mentioned or celebrated. It is possible that the drill instructors could be aware of this but it is very unlikely. They do like to pick on people for more obvious things though. I don’t think that Marines really care about birthdays.

Bootcamp…. Birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, unless it was the USMC’s birthday, nothing was acknowledged.
Different outside of bootcamp.

Tell him to keep quiet ! If the Instructors or his fellow recruits find out it will not be nice – believe me – rule number 1 DO NOT STAND OUT TOO MUCH

don’t tell anyone it is his birthday there… it will not be fun for him if you do

It’s pretty unlikely that the Instructors will know it’s his birthday, and if they do, they most likely won’t care. You go to boot camp to become a Marine, not to party. At Parris Island, a couple guys had their birthdays, which we celebrated “in-house style” by sending them out on dares which, credit to them, they did!
That’s the kind of thing which the other recruits will most likely do if they catch wind of a birthday, we always like to make fools out of other Marines!

If you send him anything for his B’day…
Letters Only !!!!
It will bring down a Sh*t storm down on him !!!!
Plus he will probably kick your butt when
he comes home…
You send him any type of Food…
He will be made to eat all of it in 5 min’s
While the rest of the Squad Bay are doing
Bends & Muthers…does not make for a
good start in the CORPS…
This is Marine Corps BOOT CAMP…
Not a Boy Scout Camp…
I was a Plt Sgt…you know the least of my
worries was to know a Marines B’Day…
The only B’day that we ever celebrated was the
US MARINE CORPS !!!!
